Abby is running on a practical, common-sense platform: safer neighborhoods, better schools, and honest, accountable government. Here’s where she stands.
Every Minnesotan Deserves to Feel Safe
Minneapolis is a great city. But public safety concerns are real, and they deserve real solutions, not politics. Abby believes in effective public safety, fair accountability in the justice system, and making our neighborhoods and campus areas welcoming, affordable places for us to live, work, and go to school.
Abby’s Approach
- Support effective public safety: Ensure law enforcement has the staffing, resources, and legislation to respond, investigate, and protect us.
- Hold repeat offenders accountable: Identify the offenses most likely to be committed again and strengthen minimum sentences for habitual offenders. Someone who commits the same serious crime repeatedly should face meaningful consequences.
- End early release loopholes: Convicted offenders should not walk free after serving as little as 50% of their sentence. When a judge hands down a sentence, it should be served.
- Voter accountability in the justice system: Support judicial retention elections so the public has a voice when judges fall short. Many Minnesota judges are appointed rather than elected, and their decisions affect every one of us.
- Make our neighborhoods welcoming: Work toward a District 60 where students feel safe going to class, families feel secure at home, and we have the freedom to enjoy what Minneapolis has to offer without fear.
Academic Excellence, Parental Partnership
Every child deserves an education that sets them up for real success and an affordable path forward after graduation. Abby believes in strong academic standards, meaningful parental involvement, and giving families more choices when their assigned school isn’t the right fit.
Abby’s Approach
- Prioritize academic achievement: Curriculum should center on reading, writing, mathematics, and critical thinking. Students who graduate from Minnesota schools should be ready to compete for good jobs and college opportunities anywhere.
- Empower families with school choice: Parents should be able to direct their child’s education funding to whichever school best serves their child, whether public, private, or charter. More options and healthy competition raise standards for everyone.
- Reduce unfunded mandates: State mandates that consume school budgets without improving outcomes should be cut, so dollars reach classrooms and teachers rather than administrative overhead.
- Make higher education more affordable: Support pathways that lower the cost of college and technical training for Minnesota students, including students right here at the University of Minnesota and Augsburg University.
- Partner with parents: Parents should be informed, involved partners in their child’s education. Strengthen transparency so families know what is being taught and have a meaningful voice.
Your Tax Dollars Deserve Better
Minnesota has a strong tradition of social programs. These programs, and Minnesotans themselves, have been taken advantage of by a serious fraud problem. Committed by a large, connected group of ‘small business owners’ and enabled to continue by corrupt politicians and complicit state agencies, these scandals have set back every Minnesotan family not involved, funding luxury vacations, gold jewelry, new vehicles, and African real estate.
The Feeding Our Future scandal alone saw $250 million stolen from a federal children’s nutrition program. A federal prosecutor called Minnesota a “national poster child for public corruption.” State agencies received warnings and officials flagged concerns, but payments kept being approved anyway, partly out of fear of discrimination lawsuits. Fraud has since been discovered across housing, healthcare, autism services, childcare, and other social programs, with potential losses reaching into the billions.
Minnesotans work hard and pay taxes in good faith. They deserve a competent, honest government that serves their families. We need accountability and oversight to protect against new fraud, and justice must be served to those who participated in and enabled these crimes.
Abby’s Approach
- Demand competent government: Accountability and oversight are not optional. Any organization receiving state funds must prove its legitimacy before a dollar is disbursed.
- Protect the programs that matter: Fraud is destroying the programs meant to help people who genuinely need them. Stopping fraud is non-negotiable if Minnesota is to provide any safety nets.
- Responsible budgeting: Cut spending that does not serve citizens.
- Make everyday life more affordable: Reduce the regulatory and tax burdens that drive up the cost of housing, groceries, and daily life for working Minnesotans. Grow good-paying jobs by making Minnesota an affordable, attractive state for businesses to invest in and hire.
